Frequently Asked Questions
Have you got any questions about Little Sanctuary Pilates and the studio? Maybe you'll find some of your answers here.
What if I haven't done Pilates before? Do you have classes for beginners?
That's completely fine. We are trained to guide you and support you to achieve your goals in the best way we know how. As Clinical Pilates instructors we are trained to assist you through injury, conditions, rehabilitation as well as to achieve elite level training. We also see ourselves as facilitators of movement, to help you move and feel your best.
Our semi private classes are taught at a ratioof 4:1. This allows us to individualise every person's session to them and their needs. No two people in the room are doing the same class.
I'm not flexible, does that matter?
Not at all. You do not need to be flexible to do Pilates and you do not need to become flexible. If flexibility is a goal of yours we are able to assist you with best practice ways in which to increase flexibility.
Am I too old?
No, you're not too old. If you can move parts of your body you are able to practice Pilates.
I have a condition or injury, can I still do Pilates?
Absolutely, we are Clinically trained Pilates Instructors. That means we are able to instruct you through post physio rehabilitation as well as give regular instruction to people with chronic and permanent conditions. Here at Little Sanctuary Pilates, we specialise in assisting people with chronic pain, medical conditions, permanent and temporary injuries.
Do you help people on NDIS?
Yes, we do help people who are NDIS participants. We are familiar with the NDIS invoicing requirements and are able to invoice you or your plan management team.
Can I use my Private Health Fund?
No, unfortunately we are not able to charge back to Private Health funds. However, you will find that over time, your persistent practice with us will save you in Physio fees as Private Health funds only cover you for a limited number of Clinical Pilates sessions through Physios. Dedicated practice with Clinical Pilates instructors has been proven to be helpful for people longterm as they find relief/benefit/symptom management through their continued practice.
Will I hurt myself in Pilates?
There is not enough force produced while doing Pilates to cause any physical damage. Pilates does have strengthening exercises that will cause your muscles to "feel sore" a day or two after your practice (at times). However, this is not a sign of damage, it is a sign that your muscles are becoming stronger and are working to build strength.
Is Pilates all "core" work?
Pilates does require you to use your abdominal muscles it is true, it also requires you to use your obliques, back extensors, traps, pecs, all the leg and arm muscles, and the glutes. Pretty much every muscle in your body as well as your brain for your coordination and balance. Pilates is an a full body exercise.
How much does it cost?
